Design, Manufacturing and Testing Standards – Technology at a Glance

DESCRIPTION
Tangent PFA/PTFE Lined Centric Bi-directional Butterfly valves are designed to ensure a tight fit around the disc for bubble-tight shut-off in both directions and provide constant torque with no maintenance.

“A major advantage of Tangent products is their international compatibility.”

The exceptional design features a one-piece thin disc stem lined with 3mm molded PFA, providing a high Kv value. The liner and disc are the only two valve parts in contact with the medium.

Tangent has improved the disc design to reduce deflection at higher pressures and achieve a tighter in-line seal for the stem sealing system.

Primary shaft sealing is achieved by preloaded contact between the disc and liner hub, with secondary shaft sealing ensured by oversizing the shaft diameter in relation to the shaft hole in the liner. The liner and disc are molded and machined to close tolerances to provide low torque, less stress, and deformation during opening and closing.

A PTFE atmospheric seat protects internal components from atmospheric corrosion and provides a locating ring for actuator mounting. The fully encapsulated bottom shaft eliminates potential leak paths at the bottom of the valve and eliminates the need for additional sealing elements.
